KW6O Ambassador Program

In 2010 the Department of Defense established a Committee to develop a program to honor the service and sacrifice of Korean War Veterans, commemorate the key events of the war, and educate Americans about the Korean War’s significance.  This committee was established for three years to focus on presenting a local voice of sincere appreciation for the selfless service and sacrifices that Korean War Veterans made on behalf of all Americans.

As part of this program, the Department of Defense set out to honor the treasured Korean War Veterans in a heartfelt and meaningful way.  The Department of Defense decided to award an official Certificate of Appreciation, signed by the Secretary of the Department of Defense, to any Korean War Veteran who served between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953.
