September 2013 Meeting Notice

  • As know we are currently maintaining our Korean War display at the New Smyrna Beach Museum just off Canal Street. On July 27th we had a wonderful ceremony observing the 60th Anniversary of the end of hostilities in Korea and the dedication of the Korean War Museum Display. A series of photographs taken at the event can be found under Korean War Dedication on the Home Page of this Website. The Korean War exhibit will be available for viewing at the Smyrna Museum until 15 November 2013  If you have any time and would like to greet and meet people visiting the exhibit, just contact Bob McGuire at 386.323 6401 and we will put you on the payroll.      
  • On September 10th Volume 1 Series 3  edition of the Kimchi Kourier Newsletter went to press. This is the third newsletter published this year, for our Chapter, and it looks great.  Bob McGuire is the Newsletter Editor and we owe him a debt of gratitude for the newsletter and newspaper publicity he generates on the Chapters behalf.   The newsletters will be sent out to all of our members through the US Postage System. If you have access to the web, connect to Chapter 189's website, at www.cid189.kwva.org  and you can read a copy by going to the upper left hand corner of the home page and clicking on the "189 Newsletter" box.
  • Pastor Pyoung Ok Hur and the congregation of the Korean Baptist Church have invited our Chapter Veterans and spouses to a very special ceremony of gratitude for your Korean Service.  The ceremony will be held at the Korean Baptist Church at 406 Silver Beach ion Daytona on September 22nd at 11am. This service of gratitude and honor will be followe by a luncheon in their banquet hall.  This is strictly RSV and you must call 788.8040 or 323.6401 or 760.7163 before September 12 so they can make adequate preparations.  Those whose homeland ylu helped save are grateful and request your presence.  Please attend this grcious and memorable program.
  • During the past several months the Chapter has been presenting the "Tell America" Program to a number of organizations. If you know an organization that might want to learn about the history of the Korean War please contact Bob McGuire at we would be pleased to set up a presentation.
